Child Safety Standards

Last updated: 18 Oct 2026

These standards apply to the Zquady app for iOS and Android and to everything shared in it. They are published by Zquady e.U. of Ottensheim, Austria, the developer of Zquady on Google Play and the App Store. Zquady has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation: towards the content and towards the account behind it.

1. What is prohibited

Any form of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) involving anyone under 18 is prohibited on Zquady. This includes in particular:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): photos, videos and images, including drawn, edited or artificially generated ones. Offering, seeking, sharing or linking to such material is also prohibited;
  • sexualised depictions, descriptions and statements about minors, including in text;
  • building contact with minors in order to sexually abuse or exploit them (grooming), and any other attempt to make contact with minors through Zquady;
  • luring minors to meetings, extorting them, for example with intimate images (sextortion), or trafficking them;
  • Zquads, profiles and messages that are aimed at minors, or that prepare, play down or promote any of the above.

This applies everywhere in the app: in profiles and profile photos, in Zquads, in group and direct chats and in memory photos. This page explains how we enforce the code of conduct in our Terms (section 6) to protect children. The Terms remain binding for the use of Zquady.

2. Zquady is 18+ only

Zquady is exclusively for adults aged 18 and over, because people meet in real life here. There are no exceptions. The app is not aimed at children or teenagers.

  • Age check at sign-up: Before a profile is created, we ask for the date of birth. If it is under 18, we end the sign-up and delete the account immediately, including the email address. If that does not work straight away, for example without an internet connection, we delete the account automatically after 7 days.
  • A self-declaration: The date of birth is the user’s own statement; we do not check ID documents. A false statement breaches our Terms.
  • Suspected minors: Every profile can be reported with the reason “Seems to be under 18”. These reports are urgent: we handle them with priority, as a rule within 24 hours. If it turns out that a person is under 18, we delete their account and the related data, except where we need it as evidence (section 5).

3. How to report in the app

You can report directly in the app, everywhere, without leaving it:

  • Profile: in the person’s profile, tap ⋯, then “Report person”.
  • Zquad: in the Zquad, tap the flag icon. If you have already joined, you will find “Report” under the “Manage” gear icon.
  • Message: in a group or direct chat, press and hold the message and choose “Report”.
  • Memory photo: in the open photo, tap ⋯, then “Report”.

As the reason, choose “Danger or crime”, which is always at the top, and for profiles also “Seems to be under 18”. You can add a short description of what happened. The report goes straight to our moderation team, and the reported person does not find out who reported them. We will let you know the outcome by email.

Blocking: In a person’s profile, tap ⋯, then “Block”. After that, you can no longer message each other, follow each other or send requests to each other’s Zquads. You no longer see each other in Zquads and member lists, and the blocked person is removed from your upcoming Zquads. In your privacy settings you also decide who can message you.

Without the app or without an account, you can report illegal content to support@zquady.com. Please tell us where the content is: username, Zquad or link. But never send us images of child sexual abuse, not even as evidence. Forwarding them can itself be a criminal offence.

Is a child in danger? Call the police immediately: 133 in Austria, 112 anywhere in Europe. We are not an emergency service and cannot intervene.

You can also report child sexual abuse material you come across anywhere on the internet, anonymously, to the Austrian hotline Stopline. Children and teenagers in Austria can get help around the clock, anonymously and free of charge, from Rat auf Draht on 147.

4. How we handle reports

  • Every report arrives immediately in our moderation system and also in our mailbox. Reports for “Danger or crime” and “Seems to be under 18” are marked as urgent there and listed at the top.
  • We handle urgent reports (danger or crime, child safety, harassment, inappropriate behaviour and “I’m in this photo and don’t want to be”) with priority, as a rule within 24 hours. We handle all other reports without undue delay, as a rule within 72 hours.
  • A human reviews every report. No automated system decides on measures.
  • With every report, we automatically secure a copy of the reported content and the related data. The copy remains even if the person deletes the content or their account afterwards.
  • If there is a serious suspicion, we suspend the account provisionally while we review the case or while an investigation is ongoing.

5. How we handle CSAM

If we learn of child sexual abuse material or grooming on Zquady, through a report or in any other way, we act immediately:

  1. Remove: We take the content out of the app immediately. After that, nobody can see it.
  2. Suspend: We suspend the account behind it. A suspension applies to the person: they may not create a new account. To enforce this, we keep check values of their sign-in details on a block list.
  3. Preserve: We keep the content and the related data, such as the account, messages and Zquads, separately and locked, solely for the investigation. This applies until twelve months after our review has been completed, or until the end of any ongoing proceedings. We do not pass such images on, not even by email to authorities. We tell the authorities where the material is and make what we have secured available as they instruct.
  4. Report: We report every such case without undue delay to the Austrian Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) or to the competent police or public prosecutor. If the case is connected to another country, we also report it to the authorities there. If a child is in acute danger, we call the police immediately.
  5. Inform: Whoever reported the case to us is told that we have informed the authorities. We only tell the reported person the reasons for the suspension once the authorities no longer object.

In doing so, we comply with applicable law, in particular the Austrian Criminal Code (sections 207a and 208a StGB), the Austrian E-Commerce Act and the EU Digital Services Act (in particular Articles 16 and 18). How we handle data in this context is set out in section 9a of the Terms and in the privacy policy.

6. What we do to prevent harm

  • 18+ only: We ask for the age before a profile is created (section 2).
  • No images of your own in chats: Photos, videos or files cannot be uploaded. On Zquady, your own photos exist only as profile photos and as memory photos after a Zquad, which only that Zquad’s members and host can see. Messages, profile photos and memory photos can all be reported.
  • You decide who can reach you: You choose who can message you and who sees your profile photo and bio, and you can block anyone.
  • Humans review reports: Content appears without prior review by a human. An automatic word filter only rejects gross insults and hate speech in public texts. That makes reports all the more important, and a human reviews every one of them.
